Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. is Hiring a Safety Technician Near Warren, PA

As a Safety Technician at Superior Tire & Rubber Corp., you will be supporting and maintaining a safe work environment by assisting with the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs and policies. You will be responsible for ensuring that our safety equipment and facilities are maintained to keep our employees safe, as well as ensure we have all the proper PPE necessary in the proper locations. You will need to be highly detail and task oriented, as well as have great organizational and documentation skills. It is also important that this position maintains a positive demeanor to help the Safety department build strong relationships with all other departments of this Company.

Essential Job Functions:

Safety Inspections and Audits:

  • Participate in safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety standards. Report findings to the safety supervisor.
  • Knows and complies with all policies and procedures in maintaining inspection and compliance criteria as defined in our Lockout/Tagout, Respirator, Fork Truck, and Fall Protection programs and all other safety procedures.
  • Carry out routine safety inspections and preventative maintenance at all company locations.
  • Identify and report potential hazards, safety violations, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with department heads and employees to address and resolve safety concerns.
  • Reports unsafe and/or potentially dangerous situations to the Safety Supervisor as appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping rules and acts as a team leader to immediately fix hazardous situations.

Safety Training:

  • Regularly attend various shop safety meetings to audit for content and compliance.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for employees.
  • Ensure that new hires receive appropriate safety orientation.
  • Keep records of training sessions and employee certifications.
  • Ensures employee adherence to safety policy and compliance to safety procedures for all work activities and personnel.
  • Provides training to individuals to include new hires, fork trucks, lifts, crane operations, hazardous waste, visitor arrivals, lock out tag out, confined spaces, respirators, JSA’s.
  • Track employee training records and help ensure compliance with safety training requirements.

Accident and Incident Reporting:

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss situations to determine root causes.
  • Compile and maintain records of accidents and incidents, including injuries and property damage.
  • Reports unsafe and/or potentially dangerous situations to supervision.

Safety Procedures and Policies:

  • Assist in the development and review of safety policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the maintenance of safety manuals, guidelines, and instructions.
  • Communicate safety standards to employees and promote adherence to policies.
  • Support the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

Emergency Response Planning:

  • Assists in the development of emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Participate in drills and exercises to test emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain emergency equipment and supplies.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Maintain and adhere to Safety Compliance Calendar
  • File and maintain inspection documentation in accordance with ISO and OSHA regulations as outlined in our Safety Inspection Program
  • Works with Safety Supervisor to ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures and improve safety operations and procedures.
  • Execute tasks as assigned that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting reports to regulatory agencies as required.

Hazardous Materials Management:

  • Assists the Safety Supervisor in the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and safety data information.

Safety Equipment and Supplies:

  • Monitor the use and condition of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Order, distribute, and maintain safety equipment and supplies as necessary.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain and organize safety-related documents, reports, and records.
  • Understands and complies with all safety related policies and procedures.
  • Works with Safety Supervisor & Continuous Improvement Project Manager to ensure documentation of all safety policies and procedures are tracked and filed appropriately.

Hazard Communication:

  • Assist in maintaining hazard communication programs, including labeling of hazardous materials, and providing information and training to employees.

Safety Communication:

  • Help in the dissemination of safety information, updates, and reminders to employees through safety meetings, posters, and other communication channels.

Safety Committees

  • Support safety committees by being an active participating member of the safety committee.

This position requires physical stamina, as it involves standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
